Garbanzo Beans

Garbanzo Beans can either be cooked in a pressure cooker (about an hour and a half cooking time) or a Crockpot (about 6 hours cooking time). This recipe also uses the Tomato Sauce which can be found here.

Ingredients

  • Garbanzo Beans - 1 cup dried
  • Tomato Sauce - 1/4 cup
  • Water - 4 cups
  • Turmeric Powder - 1 tsp
  • Coriander Powder - 1 tsp
  • Cayenne Pepper to taste
  • Salt to taste

Method

Step 1

Wash the beans and soak them overnight. Before cooking the beans discard the water in which they soaked.

Step 2

Add beans (without the water in which they were soaked) and 4 cups of fresh water to a pressure cooker and cook for 30 minutes on medium low heat.

Step 3

Carefully open the pressure cooker lid and add the tomato sauce and rest of the ingredients.

Continue to cook for an hour until the sauce comes together.

Garnish with cilantro and enjoy!
